NYU Data Services
Please note that during the summer months we have fewer available staff in some areas. We'll do our best to provide you service in a timely fashion.
Data Services is a joint service of New York University's Division of Libraries and Information Technology Services to support quantitative, qualitative, and geographical research at NYU. Data Services offers access to specialty software packages for statistical analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), and qualitative data analysis. We provide training and support as well as consulting expertise for many aspects of the research data lifecycle including access, analysis, collection development, data management, and data preservation. Data Services is part of Elmer Holmes Bobst Library's Research Commons. Our staff offices and main lab are located on the 5th floor of the library.
The Data Services lab is equipped with 26 lab workstations where faculty, students, and staff can receive consultations and access our workstations.
Consultation is available by appointment through our online appointment form, via email at <email@example.com>, by telephone at 212-998-3434, or on a walk-in basis. Information on upcoming tutorials, clinics, and other events is available in our News tab above.
Data Services staff is prepared to assist researchers in developing data management plans. Please see our guide which gives background information, describes the elements of a data management plan, lists data management requirements, describes some data repositories and provides contact information for professionals in the Data Services and Libraries who can help researchers with their data management plans.
Computer Use Policy
Data Services lab computers may be used by library patrons on a walk-in basis. However, workstations can be reserved by NYU faculty, staff, and students for data and statistical projects by contacting a consultant or using the web appointment form. Users working without reservations will be asked to relocate to another workstation when a computer has been reserved for project use. Use of the Data Services lab is governed by the following guidelines:
