...in the library

You can search our catalogue specifically for audio resources, and further limit your search to materials that are either physically in the library, or that are available online. From the list of results, you can see more information about a particular hit by viewing the item record. This can shed light on the format & content of an item, to help you decide if it's something you want.

...in library databases

The library has many databases with streaming audio to support your research & coursework. These can be valuable resources, but it's important to realize that these streaming databases are under copyright, and will prohibit downloading video or audio files. Some databases, notably those published by Alexander Street Press do allow you to create playlists or specific clips of their files. You can embed or link to these files, clips, or playlists in online projects, such as those using Storymapper or blogging.

...in the Public Domain or with Creative Commons Licenses

I've done my best to evaluate these sources in curating this list, but the Internet is an ever-changing environment. I cannot guarantee that these websites don't have materials that violate copyright. It is ultimately the responsibility of you, the users & researchers, to verify the copyright status and/or license information for the media you find using the links of on this guide.

Please always double-check that the websites have not changed their terms & conditions, that they do have the right to host the media it does, and verify the license/credit requirements for each specific file(s) you are downloading
