Announcing MaRLI

Announcing MaRLI

The New York Public Library and the libraries of Columbia University and New York University have launched a pilot initiative to expand access and use of collections and better serve their users.  The collaboration, dubbed the Manhattan Research Library Initiative (MaRLI), will enable NYU and Columbia doctoral students, full-time faculty and librarians, and approved New York Public Library cardholders with a demonstrable research need not met by currently available resources, to borrow materials from all three institutions.

Citation Management Tools

Citation management software helps you take notes, organize your research, import citations from electronic databases and catalogs, format your references in standard styles (MLA, APA etc.) for bibliographies; insert footnotes and endnotes directly into your papers. Here are a few options available to you:

  • RefWorks

    RefWorks is a web-based program you can use to organize your research. It is licensed to everyone in the NYU community.

  • EndNote

    EndNote includes is another program to help you organize your research. It is available to the NYU community.

  • Mendeley
    Mendeley is a free citation management tool with an academic social network option. It allows you to organize your research, annotate PDFs, create bibliographic citations, discover new research, and collaborate with others online.
  • Zotero
    Zotero is a Firefox extension designed for the Firefox browser (Mac and PC). It is a free online citation management tool.
