A Million Print Titles Now Digitally Available via HathiTrust Agreement |

by NYU Libraries Communications on 2020-04-14T14:00:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

NYU Libraries has partnered with HathiTrust to enable Temporary Emergency Access to digitized versions of nearly 40% of our print collections.

Our  HathiTrust membership gives NYU students, faculty, and staff temporary access to one million in-copyright, print books previously inaccessible because our buildings are closed.

While these digitized versions don’t have the full functionality of an e-book, this partnership represents a remarkable achievement in granting temporary access to one-third of the Libraries’ in-copyright titles.

A Special Thanks

The hard work and creativeness of our library colleagues made this access possible. Thanks to Scholarly Communications, Knowledge Access & Resource Management, and Collections and Content Strategies departments!

HathiTrust always has 6.6 million titles available to NYU with no restriction.

How to Use the Collection

Searching

NYU students, faculty, and staff can search for items in the NYU Libraries catalog

  • If a digitized version is available here will be a HathiTrust link in the”Online Access” section of the item record.
  • You can also search via the HathiTrust website.

Reading

  • Readers may view the digitized materials for 1 hour
  • Automatic renewals as long as the item isn’t being requested by another user.

For more information check the HathiTrust How To Guide.

NYU Libraries’ Expansive e-Resources

NYU Libraries have almost 3 million electronic resources including:

  • 2.2 million e-books
  • 175,000 (audio)
  • 150,000 (video)
  • 225,000 (e-journals)
  • 1,300 (databases)

These items are searchable within our catalog. Try filtering results with options like “full text online” to zero in on these items.
