New Grants Steering Committee Will Help Coordinate, Support Library Grant Requests

by NYU Libraries Communications on 2021-07-15T10:30:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

At the Libraries, grant-seeking activities are dispersed across many units and staff. In order to foster and support New York-based grant-seeking activity, a new Grants Steering Committee is being formed to provide coordination, build expertise, and promote resource sharing in the grant application process. The goal is to help make the most of grant opportunities that have the potential to support the Libraries’ mission and goals. The committee will be available to support grant-seekers right from the start, when they’re evaluating an opportunity.

“There are a lot of considerations involved in making the decision to submit a grant proposal,” said Scott Collard, Associate Dean for Research and Research Services. “Is the project a good fit with the sponsor’s program area? Is it a priority for us? Do we have the required resources and capacity to successfully complete the project? The committee can help with decision making and be supportive throughout the grant application process, which can be very complicated.”

You can read the Committee’s charge document on the Wiki. The Committee will include:

Standing

  • Dean of Libraries (ex officio)

  • Communications Manager

  • Budget Manager

  • LSLT members from three to four of the following units:

    • KARMS

    • DLTS

    • Special Collections

    • Research & Research Services

    • Teaching, Learning & Engagement

    • Collections & Content Strategy

Rotating (2-year term)

  • IDBE-SC member

  • Faculty position (invited, or Library Council appointed)

Currently, the Committee includes Scott Collard, David Millman, Kristina Rose, Jamie Cavallo, and Sally Cummings, Lauren Kehoe, and Aruna Magier. You can reach the Committee at lib-grants@nyu.edu
