Bloomberg Guide: Alumni

Learn how to access and use Bloomberg at NYU Libraries.

Alumni Access to Bloomberg at New York Public Library

NYU alumni who are a New York Public Library (NYPL) member and are a NYPL card holder may visit the Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL) branch at 34th St and Madison Ave to access Bloomberg. Additional details can be found at their Bloomberg subscription description page.

  • Finding SIBL's terminals:  When entering from the main Madison Ave entrance, take the stairs or elevators to the lower floor. After exiting via the elevators, the "Electronic Information Center" (EIC) - which houses the Bloomberg terminals - will be directly to your right.
  • Getting what you need from the terminal: SIBL Bloomberg terminals have a strict "no downloading" and "no photography" policy, so plan to bring pen and paper.
  • SIBL Move to Mid-Manhattan Library in 2020: SIBL will relocate to NYPL's Mid-Manhattan Library (the latter of which is currently closed for renovations) in 2020. To learn more about the new facility, visit the Mid-Manhattan Library Renovation website. As the facility change approaches, visit SIBL's website for more information about the move.

Due to the terms of NYU's Bloomberg contract, alumni, visitors, and Friends of Bobst Library are not eligible for access to NYU's Bloomberg terminals. No exceptions can be made. Thank you for your understanding.

Some major metropolitan library systems, especially those with a business branch or department, may subscribe to Bloomberg. Contact your local public library to ask if they have a terminal.
