Graduate Student Services: 1) How do I get started?

A guide to services and resources especially for Graduate Students at NYU Libraries

Starting Research at NYU

New to NYU? Feeling overwhelmed? Need to get up to speed?

The NYU Libraries are here to help. We have subject specialists in all areas, and robust help available in person and virtually through our Ask a Librarian service.

Here are four great suggestions for getting started:

    Contact your subject librarian

Find the librarian skilled in your research area and contact them, or fill out this form and we'll find you the right person for your project.

    Get to know your resources

The NYU Libraries supply a network of physical and virtual resources for your use. In addition to nearly 4 million books, we have huge collections of databases for finding articles, ejournals, ebooks, productivity tools and more. Can't find it here? We'll get it for you through our Interlibrary Loan Services, or you can visit another library in the area.

    Take a class or tutorial

Look at some of the classes and self-paced materials we offer, including specialized classes for International Students new to American-style institutions and "Back to School" materials for those who've been away for some time
