There are many rooms in the library that are available only for graduate students and accessible via a swipe-in system. These spaces are detailed below. For an overview of all the spaces available to graduate students (both grad-only and other), please see our page devoted to Space Locations & Features.
There are Graduate Study Rooms on the 6th and 5th floors that are intended for graduate-level research. These rooms feature extra-large individual study spaces with outlets for laptops and "spot" lighting in some locations. Look for rooms around the building perimeters and in the corners of these two floors.
There are Graduate Collaboratives on the 4th and 6th floors which can be reserved by using the Room Reservation system. There are 7 medium collaboratives that seat 4-6; and 2 large collaborative which seat up to 15. As with the 3 graduate collaboratives on LL1, these swipe-in rooms have whiteboards, rolling furniture, and upgraded technology. There are also 9 small reservable rooms that seat 1-2 on the 4th floor, which are intended for quiet work. For more information on these rooms, please see our page devoted to Collaborative Spaces.
Lastly, there are 4 Dissertation Writers' Rooms that are reservable on a yearly basis to doctoral students who have passed their comprehensive exams. These rooms include semi-private workspaces and a mobile office unit or locker for the researcher's materials. If you're interested in these rooms, please see our page devoted to Dissertation Writers' Rooms.
Rooms come in a variety of sizes, from small 1-2 person rooms, to 4-6 person rooms, to rooms that hold 10-12.
