An overview of scholarly metrics and the tools you can use to find them.

Available Metrics

The following metrics are available through the Scopus interface:

Author Evaluator

  • View the h-index graph for an author.
  • Offers pie chart of work which includes Sources, Document Types, Years, Subject Areas, and Co-Authors.
  • Displays graph of number of citations.

Journal Analyzer

  • Offers line chart of SCImago Journal Rank, Source Normalized Impact Per Paper, total citations per year, total number of documents published in the journal per year, percentage of documents published that year that haven't been cited, percentage of documents from that year that are review articles.
  • Can view all information available in one table.

Citation Overview

  • Breaks down the citations of an article or author's articles by year.
  • Can select custom year ranges.
  • Option to create citation alert.

Altmetric

  • Gathers social or mainstream media mentions and displays them in citation record.
  • Has reader counts through Mendeley and CiteULike, Altmetric score, and demographics tab.
  • Source section displays how many times an article has been mentioned in a specific source.
  • Option to create citation alert.
