HIV Testing and Counseling Services are available for free at the NYU Student Health Center (726 Broadway, 4th floor), regardless of insurance. You can gather educational materials, undergo confidential testing, and speak with a healthcare professional regarding any HIV-related issue in a safe, non-judgmental environment. A dedicated HIV Counselor is available by appointment for HIV testing, providing educational materials, and/or answering questions regarding HIV-related issues.

You can get low- to no-cost services for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, at the NYC Department of Health's 8 Sexual Health Clinics. These clinics see patients on a first come, first served basis. No appointment is necessary. Anyone who is 12 or older can visit a clinic, regardless of immigration status. No parental consent is necessary. If you do not have health insurance or cannot pay the sliding scale fee, you can still get services. Callen-Lorde, an organization with locations in Manhattan and the Bronx that specializes in affirming, sex-positive LGBTQ healthcare, offers free rapid and routine HIV testing to existing patients and non-patients. If you test positive for HIV, Callen-Lorde will offer you medical, case coordination, and mental health services to help keep you healthy. The GMHC Testing Center offers free, confidential testing for HIV, HCV, Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea; linkage to PrEP/PEP providers; and linkage to HIV medical care. Testing is limited to four times a year (every three months). The Testing Center is open for walk-ins and by appointment. It is located at 307 West 38th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues), 3rd floor.

You can get tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) at your local Planned Parenthood health center, which also offers HIV counseling. Search for a local Planned Parenthood health center by zip, city, or state.
