Weaving Connections is a community gathering for students to come together to knit, crochet, and craft together. You do not need to be an expert to join, nor do you have to bring supplies - just bring yourself! NYU Librarians will provide a demo of knitting and crocheting basics before opening up to a casual and collaborative session. We hope Weaving Connections will offer you the space to be in community with fellow students and support a flourishing community practice of creativity and self-care within the Libraries.

In this one hour workshop you will learn how to make your own simple notebook with paper covers. You will also learn basic decorative techniques in this introduction to book making.

Join MindfulNYU Senior Director and Head of Mindfulness Education and Programs, Melissa Carter, and MindfulNYU Assistant Director, Robert Taylor Jr. for a sound bath meditative experience in the library. A sound bath is a deeply-immersive listening experience that uses singing bowls to create resonant sounds that “bathe” the listener. We will offer four 30 minute sessions on the hour beginning at 2:00-2:30pm; 3:00-3:30pm; 4:00-4:30pm; and 5:00-5:30pm.

Walking meditation trains the mind in awareness by bringing your attention to your feet, the movement in your body and the ground below you, and focuses your mind on the sensation of walking. This type of meditation can be practiced anywhere - even in the library! Join MindfulNYU faculty member Hunt Parr for an introduction to walking meditation. This 75 minute session will begin with an introduction to walking meditation in room 745 followed by a walking meditation practice through the library concluding on the first floor.
