Anytime Activities at Bobst 

Visit the first floor of Bobst Library anytime during Connection and Care Week to relax, de-stress, and give and receive kindness.

Take a break from your studies, connect with a friend, and play your stress away with a game of giant Jenga, jumbo Tic Tac Toe, mega Connect Four, and more big versions of your favorite classic games.

The Craft Room: Give and Receive Kindness

Origami cranes offer to some a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times. Visit our origami crane-making table to create a crane for yourself or a friend — or add your creation to our lighted birch tree as a symbol of kindness for the community.

The Relaxation Zone: De-Stress Your Mind and Body

Enjoy a (clothed) massage in one of our Miracle Massage Sofa Recliner chairs. Select from seven massage modes and optional heat therapy in this zero-gravity cocoon of comfort.

Treat Trolley

Studying can be stressful—but the Treat Trolley is back to help you power up or calm down this semester! Keep on the lookout for our roaming trolley of snacks, sparkling water, and other care items to soothe your study session! We’ll be popping up at Bobst throughout the week.

Calming Sights and Sounds in the Feldstein Immersion Room

The Avery Fisher Center will have a group listening and viewing event to contribute to calm and connection through group listening.  Through surround sound and low light, students will be able to experience a space where they can relax and connect with each other through active listening.

Sourcing Inspiration: Joy & Creativity in the Library

This workshop will help you approach our vast catalog with a sense of wonderment and exploration, utilizing playful browsing methods that can help get you out of a rut, inspire you, feed your artistic needs, and invite radical joy into your library experience.

Weaving Connections

Weaving Connections is a community gathering for students to come together to knit, crochet, and craft together. You do not need to be an expert to join, nor do you have to bring supplies - just bring yourself! NYU Librarians will provide a demo of knitting and crocheting basics before opening up to a casual and collaborative session. We hope Weaving Connections will offer you the space to be in community with fellow students and support a flourishing community practice of creativity and self-care within the Libraries.

The Living Park: Get to Know the Winter Resident Birds of Washington Square

Washington Square Park shimmers with natural life even in the winter. Get closer to it by learning about some of its common winter bird residents andand trying out some urban birding for yourself.

Journal Making at Bobst Library

Tuesday, December 5th

Bobst Library, Barbara Goldsmith Preservation & Conservation Department, Lower Level 2 - East Wing

In this one hour workshop you will learn how to make your own simple notebook with paper covers. You will also learn basic decorative techniques in this introduction to book making. 
Note: No food or drinks are permitted in the workshop space, except water. Registration is limited to 12 participants.

Sound Bath Meditation Pop-up

Join MindfulNYU Senior Director and Head of Mindfulness Education and Programs, Melissa Carter, and MindfulNYU Assistant Director, Robert Taylor Jr. for a sound bath meditative experience in the library.  A sound bath is a deeply-immersive listening experience that uses singing bowls to create resonant sounds that “bathe” the listener.  We will offer four 30 minute sessions on the hour beginning at 2:00-2:30pm; 3:00-3:30pm; 4:00-4:30pm; and 5:00-5:30pm.

Restorative Yoga with Gaby Garcia

What is restorative yoga? Restorative yoga, also called gentle yoga, is a style of yoga designed to relax, restore, and rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit. At its core, restorative yoga is a practice of passive healing.

Walking Meditation in the Library

Friday, December 8th
12pm-1pm
Bobst Library, Room 745

Walking meditation trains the mind in awareness by bringing your attention to your feet, the movement in your body and the ground below you, and focuses your mind on the sensation of walking. This type of meditation can be practiced anywhere - even in the library!  Join MindfulNYU faculty member Hunt Parr for an introduction to walking meditation. This 75 minute session will begin with an introduction to walking meditation in room 745 followed by a walking meditation practice through the library concluding on the first floor.  

NYU Libraries provides reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities.
