In January, Archival Collections Management (ACM) welcomed Rachel Mahre, Audiovisual Processing Archivist. Rachel comes to us from archival consultants The Winthrop Group, where she worked with a number of New York City-based nonprofits.
In her first few months at the Libraries, Rachel has been working on a project to process films from the Communist Party-USA Records and digitize videos from the Asian CineVision Records. She’s especially looking forward to becoming more acquainted with our “incredible archival collections, including the huge collection of labor and leftist history.”
Rachel moved to New York from Seattle in 2018. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Washington: an MLIS and a BA in Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies. When pandemic restrictions are lifted, she looks forward to music shows and getting back into kickboxing. For now, she relaxes with video games and training her rescue dog, Yucca. They both enjoy ACM’s weekly video chats, at which pets are welcome.
