This guide is based on the essential bibliography A Guide for Establishing Asian American Core Collections by Wei Chi Poon, published in 1989.

What this Guide is

This guide is based on the essential bibliography A Guide for Establishing Asian American Core Collections by Wei Chi Poon, published in 1989.  Books not owned by NYU are on order with the exception of works where NYU owns the original edition.  Another exception is where there is a latter edition published after 1989.

I have followed the chapter outline of her bibliography for the initial tabs and the order within the tabs. Yasha Razizadeh created the Western Asian Americans tab; I added a tab for the Special Collections at NYU with links to finding aids for their relevant collections. I have also included a tab for recommended websites, sites focused on Asian American history available without subscription on the web.

I owe a debt of appreciation for their contributions to Yasha Razizadeh, Alexandra Chang, Ruby Gómez, J. Hutchenson, Wei Chi Poon, Dean Saranillio, and Jack Tchen.
