Getting Started in Manifold

This guide presents a basic introduction to NYU's Manifold Instance and includes walkthroughs for setting up accounts and creating a Project. This is the first of two NYU Manifold LibGuides.

Creating a Project

Creators must already have been granted a Manifold Creator account; see “Requesting a creator account.”

1. Enter Admin Mode: First, go to the NYU Manifold homepage and log in. Click on the Enter Admin Mode button in the upper right hand corner (If you do not see the Enter Admin Mode button, contact us).

2. Welcome to the Dashboard in the Backend of Manifold! The darker gray theme indicates you are in the backend of Manifold. To create a new Project click the Add a New Project button.

3. In the next screen enter a title, a subtitle, and a brief description (all these can be changed later). All you need to initially create a Project is a title.

4. Scroll down the screen to the Layout section and select Yes or No to the following four Content Block options: Texts, Resources, Extended Description, and Activity (these can all be changed later).

  • Note: If you are not sure what you need at this point, don’t worry, select yes to all and then click Save and Continue.
  • For more information on content blocks, and how to add, modify or delete all areas of your Project and its settings, see the NYU Manifold Tips & Resources LibGuide sections "Adding to a Project" and “Administering a Project.”

By default all Projects are in “Draft” mode until the creator wishes to make them public. To “Publish” – that is, to make your Project public and visible to others – select Properties from the left-side menu, scroll down to the Presentation section and toggle the Draft Mode slider to off. Click the Save Project button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
