EIU Country Reports

CIAO: Columbia International Affairs Online
Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is designed to be the most comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs.
It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 on that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences. Each section of CIAO is updated with new material on a regular schedule. Working papers are augmented every month, as are conference proceedings, policy briefs and economic indicators. Links and resources, the schedule of events and the response files are updated weekly. New journal issues and books are added as they become available.

OECD Factbook
OECD's comprehensive statistical annual includes a wide range of key statistics for its member countries and major additional countries. For each indicator presented, there is explanatory text including a definition, explanation of long-term trends, and references; a table showing the indicator over a significant time span for all countries covered, and graphics showing the key messages contained in the data. Enter the OECD library, then follow the link to the Factbook.
EIU City Data
Contains pricing information on more than 160 products and services in 123 cities worldwide. You can check everything from the cost of a loaf of bread in Adelaide to the average electricity bill of a local family in Zurich.

International Communication and Media Statistics

UN Data
Portal to statistics collected by the United Nations, including those collected by the International Telecommunications Union. Use this site to find international statistics on book production, cell phone subscribers, cinema attendance, radio and television receivers, etc. Data is available for more than 60 countries worldwide. This is not the place to come for ratings data.

World Loanword Database (WOLD)

World Loanword Database (WOLD)
The World Loanword Database, edited by Martin Haspelmath and Uri Tadmor, is a scientific publication by the Max Planck Digital Library, Munich (2009). It provides vocabularies (mini-dictionaries of about 1000-2000 entries) of 41 languages from around the world, with comprehensive information about the loanword status of each word. It allows users to find loanwords, source words and donor languages in each of the 41 languages, but also makes it easy to compare loanwords across languages.

The Chinese Statistical Yearbooks Database (中国经济社会大数据研究平台) offers a wide variety of economic, social and environmental statistical information. Users can find information through a data search (with a standard, an index value, and an index definition mode), a data analysis tool (enabling comparison by districts, indexes, years), and yearbook navigation. The database includes all aspects and fields: national accounting, fixed assets investment, population and human resources, people’s living conditions and price indices, enterprises and institutions, finance, natural resources, energy and environment, political and public administration, peasants and agriculture and rural areas, industry, construction, transportation and telecommunication, domestic trade and foreign trade, touring, catering, education and technology, culture and sports, and public health.
