Library Catalog Search Tips

A few steps:

Check the status of an item. Generally, Available means that the copy is in the library and can be checked out (excluding Reference materials).
Note the call number, not the ISBN number. The call number (ex. HT261.4.T5 1998) is what you use to locate the book.
Consult the directory in the elevator to figure out which floor your item is on.

Search for books and more in libraries in the U.S. and around the world. Indicates when NYU Libraries holds a copy of a book and shows you nearby libraries with holdings.

Borrowing Books outside of NYU Libraries

EZ-Borrow
expedited service for books. delivery in 3-5 days
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a service through which library users can obtain materials (books, articles, and more) from other libraries. IN A RUSH, request just the chapter you need instead of the entire book. There is a one-chapter limit. Service can take longer than EZBorrow
