The Cell: An Image Library
Public repository of annotated images, videos and animations of cells from a variety of organisms. Images from historical and modern collections, publications, and contributions.
Cancer Imaging Archive
De-identifies and hosts a large archive of medical images of cancer accessible for public download. The data are organized as “Collections”, typically patients related by a common disease (e.g. lung cancer), image modality (MRI, CT, etc) or research focus. DICOM is the primary file format used by TCIA for image storage. Supporting data related to the images such as patient outcomes, treatment details, genomics, pathology, and expert analyses are also provided when available.

National Geographic Virtual Library
National Geographic Virtual Library is a complete archive of National Geographic magazine, with a cross-searchable collection of National Geographic books, maps, images and videos. This collection includes: National Geographic Magazine Archive, 1888-1994 National Geographic Magazine Archive, 1995-Current National Geographic: People, Animals, and the World National Geographic Kids. Users can discover images and search for word frequencies across the publication range of the magazine.

Open-i Biomedical Image Search Engine
Enables search and retrieval of abstracts and images (including charts, graphs, clinical images, etc.) from the open source literature, and biomedical image collections. Searching may be done using text queries as well as query images. Open-i provides access to over 3.7 million images from about 1.2 million PubMed Central® articles; 7,470 chest x-rays with 3,955 radiology reports; 67,517 images from NLM History of Medicine collection; and 2,064 orthopedic illustrations.

The Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) was established as a new tool in life science publication and communication, with participation of scientists from leading research institutions. JoVE takes advantage of video technology to capture and transmit the multiple facets and intricacies of life science research. The title is a peer reviewed, PubMed indexed journal.
