Hebrew and Judaic Studies: Resources for "Memoirs and Diaries in Modern European Jewish History"

Summary: The cross-cultural and interdisciplinary theoretical pairings and juxtapositions of this project have the intended effect of positing questions of Jewish subjectivity as a particularly productive nexus of what might otherwise be seen as competing discourses. This study involves a high degree of disciplinary cross-pollination as cinema studies, literary criticism, queer studies, feminism, historiography, continental philosophy, postcolonial and "race" studies, ethnography, sociology, inform and are alternatively informed by reading Jewish texts and engaging in the practice which Jonathan Boyarin has called, "thinking in Jewish."
