**ArcMap Tools Issue**
There is a tools/extensions issue with ArcMap on the Data Services workstations in Bobst and the Virtual Computer Lab. You can manually activate the extensions and the tools by following the instructions found on this ArcGIS resource page. We are actively working to resolve this issue and will share more information once it is available.

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is anything that integrates, stores, edits, analyzes, shares, and displays geographic information. GIS applications are tools that allow users to create interactive queries, analyze spatial information, edit data in maps, and present the results of all these operations.
Data Services provides services for NYU patrons using a variety of geospatial analysis software packages.
Individual Consultations: The best way to request an individual consultation is via our appointment request form, which will ensure that the appropriate consultant can meet with you at a mutually agreeable time.
E-mail Consultations: You may also send us your questions via email at data.services@nyu.edu. Most e-mails will be answered within one business day (messages received on Friday may not be answered until Monday).
Our role is to facilitate your geospatial analysis within the realm of our supported software packages (i.e. ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS StoryMaps). We can assist you with issues that you may encounter with respect to data finding (locating geospatial data), preparation (importing, merging, and cleaning data), analysis (geoprocessing), and results (understanding the formatting of the output). We can also help you select the best package for your task, interpret error messages, and locate documentation and further resources.
In addition to providing regularly scheduled software-specific tutorials, we can also help instructors by providing classroom presentations to introduce geospatial software.
Our role is to assist you with your analysis, rather than to conduct analyses for you. It is the researcher's responsibility to ensure that the research design, analysis, and programming are justified and appropriate for the discipline at hand.
