Position Overview: Data Services Student Consultants work with the Data Services team, providing geospatial data analysis support to the faculty, staff, and students of NYU. Duties include: providing geospatial analysis consultation via chat and video appointment basis, leading Data Services instructional tutorials, preparing training documentation, and participating in select projects. This is a Paid Job - $18 to $26.75/hour, 8-20 hours per week. Consultants will be expected to be available during our staffed hours for the term and may continue into subsequent semesters, based on the performance and eligibility criteria. Performance feedback is communicated to the student consultant throughout the semester, based on project-work and feedback from patron interactions.

Qualifications: Full-time students wishing to be considered should have experience conducting quantitative academic research with statistical software, Stata or R in particular, supplemented by expertise in SAS, JMP, SPSS, or MATLAB. Fluency in two or more data analysis software packages is a plus. Applicants should have proficiency with commonly used quantitative research methods and be familiar with data manipulation (e.g. merging or restructuring data sets), data cleaning, and basic statistics for analysis of categorical and continuous data (e.g. t-tests, chi-square tests, correlations, ANOVAs, regressions, etc.). Applicants should also have the desire to improve their knowledge of research methodologies.
