Reusable Templates and Content

Reusable assets for NYU Libraries guide authors.

Why Reuse

Mapping/reusing boxes and assets is a great way to include content that you feel is helpful for your users but you might not be the subject, product, or service owner of.

Using mapped content means that when something needs an update that can be done once and applies instantly wherever that box or asset is used. No more having to manage your own instances!

How to . . . ?

After you have decided which "box" you would like to use:

  1. Go to your guide and choose the location (which tab and which column) for where you would like the box to be located.
  2. "Add New Box" like you would normally do, but instead of selecting "Create a new box" from within the pop-up window you will "Link to another box in the system". By selecting this option a list of all the guides in NYU's system will appear. Scroll down to the "All Guides" section and select "Reusable Templates and Content" guide.
  3. Select the specific box from the guide you want to copy. Note: The text in bold will be the pages in the guide, the other text are the specific boxes on that page.
  4. Do not check the "Copy" option.
