Data Sources for Physical and Earth Sciences: Astronomy & Space
This is a guide to locating and downloading data in the physical and earth sciences.
The National Space Science Data Center serves as the permanent archive for NASA space science mission data. Datasets focus on astronomy and astrophysics, solar and space plasma physics, and planetary and lunar science.
The CDS provides portals to the SIMBAD astronomical database, the world reference database for the identification of astronomical objects; VizieR, the catalogue service for the CDS reference collection of astronomical catalogues and tables published in academic journals; and the Aladin interactive software sky atlas for access, visualization and analysis of astronomical images, surveys, catalogues, databases and related data.
Contains data obtained by NASA's high-energy astronomy missions observing in the extreme-ultraviolet (EUV), X-ray, and gamma-ray bands, as well as data from missions, balloons, and ground-based facilities that have studied the relic cosmic microwave background.
