Setting up "Library Lookup"

Zotero allows you to search items online and in the library to find the full text, using the Locate menu (open by clicking on the green arrow in the menu bar. If you don’t have a PDF for an article citation in Zotero, use the Library Lookup feature to search NYU’s collection. To set up/configure the Library Lookup feature of Zotero so that you can search NYU resources, see below: 

For PCs:
  1. In Zotero, Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced 
  2. In the resolver field, input the following URL: https://getit.library.nyu.edu/resolve
  3. In Zotero, highlight an article with no PDF, click the green arrow in the menu bar.  Select Library Lookup.
  4.  If NYU has the item electronically, a link to the full text will show in the resulting browser window.  You can download the PDF and upload to Zotero.  Or simply grab the citation and PDF.  Merge the two records.
For Macs:
  1. Go to Settings > Advanced 
  2. In the resolver field, input the following URL: https://getit.library.nyu.edu/resolve

3. Once you've added the OpenURL link resolver to Zotero, when you highlight an article with no PDF attachment, click the green arrow in the menu bar and select Library Lookup. This will connect you to NYU Libraries resources. 

4. If NYU has the item electronically, a link to the full text will show in the resulting browser window.  You can download the PDF and upload to Zotero. Or simply grab the citation and PDF and merge the two records.
