Artists' Writings and Interviews

Curator Hans Ulrich Obrist conducts in-depth interviews with artists, often in multiple sessions over a period of several years. Each volume in this series focuses on a single artist or cultural figure, such as John Baldessari, Zaha Hadid, or Tacita Dean.

This series includes collections of modern artists' essays, poems, and more, including futurist manifestos and volumes of writings from artists such as Robert Motherwell, Wassily Kandinsky, and Piet Mondrian.

Anthologies on particular themes, practices, or concerns that are of central significance to contemporary visual culture. Artists' writings related to each topic are often included alongside texts from theorists, critics, and curators. Examples from the series include explorations of memories, utopias, networks, and time.

This series aims to amplify to voices of artists in order to make art's manifestations and meanings more complex. The anthologies tend to center on the output of a single artist, such as Nam June Paik or Hans Haacke.

This series is dedicated to publishing artists' writings, and includes anthologies of essays, interviews, and articles. Often the anthologies pull together texts from a wide time span.
