Sources for Consumer-Facing Information

Patient education materials are designed inform patients and their loved ones regarding particular diseases, disorders and treatments. Because they're written be accessible and digestible for a wider audience, they can be useful sources of introductory background information for student researchers. Some sources, like MedlinePlus, are entirely consumer-facing, while other sources (point of care tools or article databases) have filters or subsections dedicated to patient education materials.

Great starting point for reliable health information. Over 750 topics on conditions, diseases, and wellness. Includes videos and interactive tools related to health topics.

UpToDate is an electronic, full-text clinical resource that provides evidence-based answers to the most commonly asked questions in clinical practice.Over 10,000 topics in over 22 specialties, including Drug Info and Patient Level education materials. Written by an international faculty of practicing clinicians who are experts in their specialties.
