NYU-LIU Dual Degree Program

New York University has partnered with Long Island University’s Palmer School of Library and Information Science to offer a combined 52-credit dual master's degree program that prepares students for careers in the field of library science.

Dual Degree Application Process

There are three steps to the Dual Degree application process:

  1. Receive acceptance from a participating New York University graduate program, or be a currently matriculated student with fewer than three courses completed.

    • If you have completed more than 3 classes at NYU, you may be ineligible for the Dual Degree Program, but may be eligible for "Advanced Standing at LIU-Palmer "—an MSLIS degree of 30 credits (not the usual 36). For more information on Advanced Standing, contact Peter Culliney, Program Director–NYU Partnership, Long Island University Palmer School of Library and Information Science, at Peter.Culliney@liu.edu

  2. Receive acceptance from LIU Palmer School of Library and Information Science, or be a currently matriculated student with fewer than three courses completed.

  3. Submit Dual Degree supplementary materials. Prospective students must be accepted into NYU and LIU separately before submitting the supplemental Dual Degree materials indicating intention to join the program.

To indicate your intention to join the Dual Degree program:

Email Peter Culliney (Peter.Culliney@liu.edu), Program Director–NYU Partnership, LIU Palmer School of Library and Information Science, the following materials:

  1. A statement of intent (approximately one page)
  2. Proof of acceptance to NYU program
  3. Proof of acceptance to LIU MSLIS program
  4. CV or resume

Emails must be sent between March 15 to May 15 to be considered for the fall semester of the Dual Degree program.
