Hello! I am Vicky Rampin, the Librarian for Research Data Management and Reproducibility. I am also the liaison to computer science and data science programs at NYU! I am here to help you navigate the resources for both at NYU and beyond. You can set up an appointment with me or always email me at: vs77@nyu.edu.
If you need help with a specific quantitative, GIS, or qualitative software, you should reach out to Data Services.
As a part of your data science work, you will inevitably have to find enough data to be able to answer your questions. The Libraries has collected, licensed, and curated a number of datasets that you can leverage while you're here. All of the datasets that NYU collects can be found here: https://guides.nyu.edu/az.php?t=10177. The full guide on finding data can be found here: https://guides.nyu.edu/c.php?g=276966&p=1846652.
You may at some point need to negotiate a Data Use Agreement during your time at NYU, to receive materials from a partner (like a nonprofit). There is a unit at the University, open to current faculty, staff, and students, that can help!! The Office of Sponsored Programs primarily supports funded work, but also has services for non-funded work as well!
One of these services for all projects is reviewing, negotiating, and executing Data Use Agreements (DUAs) with State, City, Federal, and philanthropic sponsors. DUAs with industry parties generally fall within the bailiwick of NYU's Office of Industrial Liaison, although OSP may take the lead on DUAs with industry parties where the data is being shared or acquired in furtherance of a sponsored project within our jurisdiction.
