Hello and welcome, data scientists of NYU! This guide is meant to lay out some common resources and best practices that you can utilize in your data science work.

How can the Libraries support you as a data scientist at NYU? To start we provide:

Workshops and classes on data-related topics and programming
Collections of licensed and open data for your use in research and teaching
Consultations, group and individual, about your data-related projects and courses
Access to books, articles, and other scholarly materials

Data Science support points

Vicky Rampin - data science subject specialist
Vicky Rampin (she or they) is the Librarian for Research Data Management and Reproducibility, and also the data science subject specialist librarian! She is here to help you during the course of your time here with things like, finding resources (articles, code, data, etc.), help you more effectively manage your data, code, and docs for classwork and/or research, and connect to other support units at the University.

Data Services department
Supports quantitative, qualitative, survey, and geographical research and learning. Provides access to specialty software packages for quantitative analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), research data management, survey research, and qualitative data analysis.
