Unlike other databases you may be familiar with, Factiva does not provide pre-formatted citations, nor does it directly connect into a citation management system, e.g. Endnote. However, all Factiva articles provide the full details needed for a citation.
It is possible to import Factiva text files into EndNote to avoid manually entering required fields. Please follow the steps below.
From your results screen, select the article to add to your EndNote library by checking the boxes to the left of each title.
Click on 'Display Options' on the top right hand side of the page and select 'Full article/report plus indexing'
Click on the 'Save' icon and select 'Article Format'. A pop up screen will appear with the selected articles.
Save the pop-up as a text file.
NOTE: Chrome does not give you the option of saving files as text files. You need to copy and paste the results to the Notepad and save the file to the desktop as a .txt file
Press Ctrl A to select all and Ctrl C to copy on the records screen.
In Notepad click on Edit and Paste to paste the record to the Notepad.
Click on File and Save As and save the file as [Given Name].txt to the Desktop.
Open Endnote and click on File --> Import --> File... and an import file screen will pop up. Choose the .txt file you have just created on your desktop.
Select the appropriate file and ensure the Import Options box shows Factiva (DJ) and click Import. The records will now be imported into your EndNote library.
NOTE: If you do not see Factiva (DJ) as an Import Option, you can add it by following the simple two steps below:
1. Dropdown Import Options and select Other Options
2. Search for and choose Factiva (DJ). Listing will be alphabetical.
