Integrative Review Capstone Toolkit

This guide is designed for nursing students who are completing an integrative review as their capstone assignment.

Writing an Integrative Review Manuscript

Once the data has been collected, appraised, synthesized and conclusions have been drawn, the integrative review can be written up as a manuscript that describes the activities and results from each phase in the process.

There is variety in how an integrative review paper may be organized; there may be different guidelines given, depending on the requirements of an academic assignment, or the publication submission guidelines for a particular journal.  Generally speaking, these sections are common in written reports of integrative reviews:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Introduction/Background
  • Method
  • Results
  • Discussion & Conclusions
  • References
  • Appendices
