Users of the NYU Survey Service (Qualtrics) are urged to consult the University Committee on Activities Involving Human Subjects (UCAIHS) and the Office of the Provost’s Survey Policy prior to creating a survey.

Questions about these policies should be directed to the UCAIHS or Provost's Office using the contact info (to the left) or to your research advisor or department chair.

How can I collect email addresses for a prize drawing without linking this info to respondent IDs?

The best way to do this is to create two separate surveys. When respondents have finished Survey 1, link them to another survey (Survey 2) where they can enter their contact information. When you review the results for Survey 2, you won't see any of the respondent's answers to Survey 1.

To link Survey 1 to Survey 2:

  • create and activate both surveys
  • copy Survey 2's URL
  • return to Survey 1 and click the Survey Options button in the Edit tab
  • choose "Redirect to a URL" and paste Survey 2's URL
How can I set up Qualtrics so that I can't see my respondents' email address or personal info?

Under the Edit Survey tab, >>click the Survey Options button. >> Check the bo"Anoymize Response. Do Not record any personal inforamation and remove panel association (not recommended)." >> Click Save Changes button.
