Introduction to Real Estate Research

This research guide introduces many resources across different subject areas associated with real estate and provides guidance on how to locate relevant books, trade publications, research materials, and more. NYU's real estate collections are located in the Jack Brause Library, within the NYU Midtown Center at Bryant Park (Midtown).

Provides in-depth commercial real estate property data and analytics, including vacancy rates, rent levels, cap rates, new construction, rent and sales comps, valuation estimates, and capital market trends. Includes quarterly updated trends and forecasts of rent, vacancy, and inventory for apartment, office, retail, warehouse, R&D, and additional sectors in up to 275 US metropolitan areas and more than 6,300 markets and segments. Data on public and private companies, financial statements, M&A/deals, PE/VC, LBOs, and executives and boards worldwide. Use the screening and charting features to create lists of firms for tasks such as investment analysis coursework or your job search. More information is available in the Capital IQ Guide.

The Real Deal is one of the major US real estate news outlets. The publication includes original reporting, market intelligence, custom research, proprietary rankings, deal analysis, profiles, trends, and more.
Preqin This link opens in a new window
Includes private real estate coverage encompassing investors, funds, fund performance, fund terms, assets, deals & exits, service providers, and more. Preqin also includes information and data on private equity and venture capital, private debt, hedge funds, infrastructure, sustainability/ESG, and Preqin's Insight+ analysis.
Users may request large data downloads (that require delivery via a custom Preqin link) via Preqin's live chat. Preqin's private equity and venture capital data is also accessible via WRDS.
