Jack Brause Library for Real Estate

NYU's Jack Brause Library is one of the preeminent real estate libraries in North America.

Visitor Appointment Information

The Jack Brause Library, located alongside the Schack Institute of Real Estate on the fifth floor of the NYU Midtown Center, is open to eligible visitors by advance appointment. Visitors must demonstrate a need for resources in the library’s physical collection that are unavailable at the New York Public Library.

Visitors must be members of one of the following groups:

  • Licensed NY, NJ, CT real estate professionals (appraisers, salespeople)
  • Alumni of:
    • the Schack Institute of Real Estate (formerly REI, the Real Estate Institute)
    • the NYU Marron Institute of Urban Management
    • the NYU Furman Center for Real Estate & Urban Policy
    • the Chao-Hon Chen Institute for Global Real Estate Finance, NYU Stern School of Business
  • Affiliates from consortial institutions (Columbia University, the New School, Cooper Union, New York School of Interior Design, OCLC Shares), with a demonstrated research need.

Appointments must be made at least two business days in advance, and will be confirmed by email. People should not visit the library without a confirmation email from the Brause Library team. There are no same-day appointments and no walk-ins permitted. At certain times of the year (e.g., welcome week, midterms, finals), we will not accept appointment requests.

Please complete the visitor request form.

Please note that visitors may not:

  • reserve study rooms
  • use the space during unstaffed hours
  • access e-resources for which walk-in access is not permitted (e.g., PropertyShark, Bloomberg, Preqin)

The NYU Division of Libraries is charged with the safety and comfort of community members in our spaces, and reserves the right to bar entry to any individual should they disrupt the learning environment within the Brause Library. We have a zero tolerance policy regarding uncivil or inappropriate behavior.
