An overview of features in NYU Libraries' online catalog (search.library.nyu.edu).

How to Use this Guide

This guide will take you through all the new features of the library catalog. Each new feature has a page in the guide with FAQ answers and screenshots. New features include:

  • searching
  • requesting
  • filtering
  • saving records
  • and exploring resources beyond NYU's collections

Terms Used in the Catalog

  • Offsite: Items we own that are at our storage facility. They are not currently at any of our library locations. It usually take 1 to 3 business days for these items to arrive at our New York library locations.

  • Onsite: Items housed at our library locations. Some onsite items may be "Non-circulating" meaning they can't borrowed.

  • NYU-NY:  Refers to our library locations in New York.

  • Consortium: Refers to the libraries we share our catalog with. This includes The New School, Cooper Union, and the New York School for Interior Design. NYU students can items books be sent from these libraries for pick up at your preferred NYU location.
