Bloomberg Guide

Learn how to access and use Bloomberg at NYU Libraries.

Downloading and Sharing Restrictions

Data, screenshots, reports, and other materials downloaded from the Bloomberg terminal should not, under any circumstances, be shared with individuals outside of NYU. If you have questions about whether a particular use is permitted, please email us using our form and we can advise.

Copying and Pasting Data into Excel

  1. Position your cursor at the corner of a table.
  2. Press and hold the left click (not the right click) and drag across the data you would like to copy. Bloomberg will automatically copy the text/data to your clipboard when you release the left click.
  3. In Excel, right click or press ctrl + v to paste.
  4. If necessary, click on the "Data" tab on top of the ribbon and then "Text to Columns" and select "Fixed width" to finish formatting.

Watch this video of the copy/paste steps (requires flash). Note that not all data and text can be copied.

Taking Screenshots of the Interface

  • Click "Export" in the upper-right-hand menu and then "Grab Screen".
  • Use the command GRAB <GO> to send a screenshot via email.

Note: Not all screens can be "Grabbed" and some screens have custom export options.
