Bloomberg Guide

Learn how to access and use Bloomberg at NYU Libraries.

What is Bloomberg?

Bloomberg Terminal monitor and keyboardBloomberg is a terminal-bound financial services platform that provides analysis and quotes for equities (stocks) and indices, company and economic data for the countries of the world, real-time and historical industry and market news, and advanced analytical and data functions. It is an industry standard in the financial services and investment banking industries. NYU's terminals do not include the trading module and market data is delayed by 15 minutes.

Bobst Access Updates (Summer 2021)

  • Anticipated end of pandemic distance access: NYU users who require access to Bloomberg for their research should plan for our temporary, "disaster recovery" distance access to cease sometime over the summer, possibly as soon as June 30th. This means that individuals who need to use Bloomberg will need to do so on NYU's campuses, at a physical terminal. The decision to end distance access is controlled by Bloomberg, not NYU Libraries. Please plan accordingly, and check back here for updates.
  • Number of Bobst terminals: We have increased our total number from 2 to 8.
  • Booking time: No longer required, but please log off promptly when you are done.
  • Account resets: Is your account from last semester not working? Inactivity for 90 days turns your account off, and requires a password reset. Call Bloomberg Customer support to reset your password: US East Coast: 212-318-2000. US West Coast: 415-912-2960. Shanghai: +86-21-6104-3000. Abu Dhabi: +971-4-364-1000.
