Bloomberg Guide

Learn how to access and use Bloomberg at NYU Libraries.

Alumni Access to Bloomberg at the New York Public Library

Business Center on SNFL's 5th floorNYU alumni who are a New York Public Library (NYPL) member / card holder may visit the Business Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) branch to access Bloomberg.

  • The Business Center is located on SNFL's 5th floor.
  • SNFL is situated at the southeast corner of 40th St and 5th Ave, diagonal to the main NYPL branch at Bryant Park. (This building was formerly known as the "Mid-Manhattan Library".)
  • Additional details about their terminals can be found at NYPL's Bloomberg subscription description page.
  • Access to the NYPL's Bloomberg terminals may be disrupted due to the pandemic. Please consult the Business Center website for more information.

Getting what you need from NYPL Business Center terminals

NYPL Bloomberg terminals have very strict "no downloading" and "no photography" policies, so plan to bring pen and paper.

What happened to NYPL's SIBL branch?

The Business Center at SNFL is the successor to the former Science, Industry, and Business Library (SIBL), which was located at 188 Madison Ave. SIBL's Bloomberg terminals have been moved to SNFL. The SNFL branch is an ~7 minute walk from the former SIBL facility: from the former SIBL entrance, head north on Madison Ave and turn left (west) when you reach E39th St. Turn right on 5th, heading north until you reach the SNFL entrance at 455 5th Ave.

Not in the City?

Some major metropolitan library systems, especially those with a business branch or department, may subscribe to Bloomberg. Contact your local public library to ask if they have a terminal. (Most small community public libraries cannot afford Bloomberg. It is extremely expensive.)

NYU-Owned Terminals

Alumni, visitors, and Friends of Bobst Library are not eligible for access to NYU's Bloomberg terminals due to the terms of our contract. No exceptions can be made. Thank you for your understanding.
