WRDS Updates

  • 6 Nov 2024: NYU now has access to Pitchbook Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Other Data via WRDS.

Pitchbook data covers all parts of the private capital raising process: deals and other investments, companies that are a party to these deals, including other competitors parents, and related firms, investors who make investments or hold relationships with these companies, and funds which investors may use to make investments or other deals. 

Pitchbook covers 1,231,744 deals, 659,386 companies, 31,392 funds, and 285,406 investors as of the May 2021 data vintage.

  • 17 July 2024: Introducing the new dataset in WRDS! The WRDS SEC Analytics Suite is a comprehensive research suite that provides standardized tools, enabling users to systematically parse regulatory reports on the SEC website, covering SEC filings starting from 1994.

What is WRDS?

Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) is an online data platform that specializes in company financials (financial statements, audit and regulatory filings, banks, segments / industry data, compensation, intellectual property), financial markets, prices, and returns (stock prices, analyst estimates, bonds and fixed income, mutual fund / hedge fund, ETF returns, derivatives / options, REITs, currency exchange rates), ownership, mergers and acquisitions, sustainability/ESG, economics, marketing, news, and healthcare.

WRDS' strengths include:

WRDS is primarily intended for use by NYU professors and PhDs conducting academic research or teaching courses with assignments that require the analysis of WRDS data.
