Data Services Class Descriptions

Information, materials, and schedules for all currently offered Data Services classes.
This workshop will introduce Wikidata and the SPARQL query language through hands-on examples and activities. Participants will leave with tools to contribute to linked open data initiatives and to query and visualize openly available data.

Some tutorials are held remotely and require NYU sign on to access, while others are held in person, without a remote component. Please note the correct modality and location of the tutorial when registering

Skills Taught / Learning Outcomes:
  • Be introduced to SPARQL
  • Modify simple queries
  • Understand the components of a Wikidata item: QID, property, value
  • Manually edit a Wikidata item
