Data Services Class Descriptions

Information, materials, and schedules for all currently offered Data Services classes.
This session will introduce basic principles of data visualization and demonstrate use of Tableau - a popular interactive data visualization tool.
Software: Tableau Desktop (obtain a student copy or see other options)
Duration: 120 min

Room description:

Some tutorials are held remotely and require NYU sign on to access, while others are held in person, without a remote component. Please note the correct modality and location of the tutorial when registering

Prerequisites: Basic computer literacy, understanding files and folders

  • Understanding of basic principles of data visualization
  • Tableau interface
  • Importing data into Tableau
  • Exploring data and types of data
  • Creating tables, charts, scatter plots, histograms, etc.
  • Creating interactive dashboards and stories
  • Mapping data with Tableau
