Event Description

From the Ivory Tower to Prison: With Promotion Comes Responsibility.  A Virtual Talk with Dr. Rachel Wexelbaum

NYU Libraries colleagues are invited to a virtual lunch discussion with Dr. Rachel Wexelbaum, Education Supervisor at the St Cloud Correctional Facility in the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Dr. Wexelbaum will share her career journey from academic librarian to education administrator at a state correctional facility, where she oversees the library as well as Education programming. She will share insight and potential considerations for academics looking to engage in prison education work.

This event will take place on zoom. It is open to all NYU Libraries employees.

Rachel Wexelbaum Bio

Rachel Wexelbaum is the Education Director at the St Cloud Correctional Facility in the Minnesota Department of Corrections.  She has over twenty years’ experience as a teacher, librarian, researcher, and writer.  Rachel earned her Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from St Cloud State University, her Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, and her Bachelors in English with NYS Teachers Certification in English 7-12 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
