IDBEA Workshop for All NYU Libraries Staff

hosted in collaboration with The Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools

https://nyu.zoom.us/j/93089042376

Facilitated by Nakeeba Wauchope

Now that you have taken a public stance against anti-Black racism, how will you honor your expressed commitment to the community by shifting policies and practices that are serving to dehumanize Black and Brown staff, administrators, and students? How will you use your various privileges and resources to advocate for more just policy? Participants will interrogate ways to promote anti-racism within their spheres of influence.

Nakeeba A. Wauchope is an Equity Coach and Consultant for CSS (Center for Strategic Solutions at NYU Steinhardt's Metro Center). She has expertise in providing training, coaching, support, and professional development in the areas of decoding racial literacy, critical consciousness, culturally responsive and sustaining education, implicit bias, civic engagement, and dismantling systems of inequity. She has designed, created curricula and multifaceted assessments for numerous organizations in New York City, throughout the United States, and internationally. Ms. Wauchope’s experience also includes curriculum research in culturally responsive pedagogy, restorative justice practices, social-emotional competencies, music and movements (soundtrack for social justice), sports and ethics in American culture, and hip-hop pedagogy.
