DoL Theme: Critical Librarianship

We are excited to announce that the June 2021 Day of Learning theme is Critical Librarianship.

In their introduction to Knowledge Justice: Disrupting Library and Information Studies through Critical Race Theory, Sofia Y. Leung, Jorge R. López-McKnight (2021) describe critical librarianship as "a growing movement that examines the structural oppression that librarianship perpetuates with a lens of critical theory," (p. 5).

Critical Librarianship is new to the profession. As NYU Libraries becomes acclimated, here are some LibGuides, created by library students, and diversity residents! that aim to provide primers on criticalities in librarianship.
